ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the value of carcino embryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen 19,cytokeratin(CYFRA21-1),squamous cell cancer antigen(SCC) and neuron specific enolase(NSE) for the evaluation of chemotherapy response in the patients with advanced lung cancer. Methods One hundred and thirty-six patients with advanced lung cancer(lung cancer group) and 40 patients with lung benign disease(control group) were collected. The lung cancer group was treated with at least two courses of chemotherapy. The CYFRA21-1,SCC,CEA and NSE levels before chemotherapy were compared among the lung cancer group, control group and the patients with different pathological types. The above mentioned tumor markers levels before and after chemotherapy were compared among the patients with different curative effects in the lung cancer group. Results The levels of serum NSE,CYFRA21-1,CEA and SCC before treatment in the lung cancer group were higher than those in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion CEA,CYFRA21-1,SCC and NSE can be used as the effective evaluation indexes of chemotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma, lung squamous cell carcinoma and small cell carcinoma, but which has little significance in the patients without effect of chemotherapy.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVEDividing the mandible into lower part of mandibular ramus, mandibular angle, mandibular body, chin, we designed subarea ostectomy for reduce the width of anterior, body, posterior part of of the lower face.

METHODSCombide with splitting ostectomy of the out layer of mandible, ostectomy of inferior border of mandible and augmentation of the chin, re-shape the mandibular angle, body, and chin, corrected the un-beauty of the lower face and side-face.

RESULTSFrom May 2003 to August 2005 , a total of twenty-three patients have been operated on by this method with satisfactory results.

CONCLUSIONSSubarea ostectomy of mandible is more effective in re-shaping the whole lower face.

ABSTRACT

Using hitochemical techniques showing cholinesterase and catecholamines, weinvestigated the changes of these neurotransmitters in the sympathetic nervous centers(posterior nucleus and lateral area of hypothalamus,as well as intermediolateralnucleus of spinal cord)of acupunctured rats, and compared with those in the cor-responding nuclei and area in normal controls.A total of 109 cases were performed, among which 73 cases were of acupunctured and 36 cases were of controls.Theresults obtained were as follows:(1)It was shown that the number of cases withstronger activity of acetylcholinesterase in sympathetic nervous centers of acupunc-tured group was higher than that of controls. The more obviously elevated in painthreshold after acupuncture, the higher number of cases with stronger ACHE enzy-matic activity in the sympathetic nervous centers was evident.(2)The number ofcases with stronger intensity of NA fluorescences within the adrenergic fiber's terminalsof sympathetic nervous centers was found to be higher in acupunctured group thanthat of control group. On the basis of the results obtained, the possible relationship between the effectsof acupuncture and the changes of neurotransmitters in sympathetic nervous centerswas discussed. We considered that the sympathetic nervous centers might have beeninduced into a relative inhibition state following acupuncture, and this state is ingood coincidence with the increase of NA in adrenergic fiber's terminals.
